Lotus Blossom

Hello,

Stampin' Up! is famous for its 2-step stamping but this beautiful stamp set - Lotus Blossom (#p139143)- is really 3 step stamping and doesn't it look great. You can get one of these stamps sets for free during Sale-a-bration which starts today till 31st March. There is a great range of products which you can earn for free.

This set is a photopolymer one so makes it so easy to do this technique. The best result when stamping with photopolymer stamps is to place your card onto a Stampin' Pierce Mat (#126199), this gives you even pressure and ink coverage. I originally thought it was best to stamp the lighter image first when 2-step stamping but I have tried it with the darker image first and find this may be even better. Try it yourself to see which method suits you. For this stamp set I used Melon Mambo ink (#126948) for the darker image which is image no. 1. (Each of the flower images are numbered on this stamp set). The 2nd image I also used Melon Mambo but used the Stampin' Off method. For this technique, ink your stamp then stamp once onto scrap paper, then stamp onto the card without re-inking. This gives a lighter colour by using this method. The 3rd image was stamped with Pink Pirouette ink (#126956). The stems were stamped with Wild Wasabi (#126959). Another technique I used on this card was the masking technique. You will see how one of the stems goes behind the flower. So to do this, I stamped the no. 3 image on a piece of post it notes paper. The thinner the paper the better, so don't use cardstock. Cut out the image and place to over the flower you are wanting to mask. Stamp the stem and it will appear to go behind the flower. This can be done with any image you want to place one behind another.
The base card is Pink Pirouette (#116203), with Wild Wasabi (#111850) and Whisper White card (#106549) also being used. The stem and sentiments were stamped with Wild Wasabi ink (#126959).
